A Very Nosey Beauty Tag

Hello Lovely People

So we have been tagged by the beautiful Aisling at http://rosysmiles.blogspot.co.uk to do this beauty Q&A post. Even though we are sisters, you will see that we are similar AND very different! Here goes...

Would you rather lose all of your mascaras, eyeliners and lip products or lose all of your palettes and eye shadows?

Char: Palettes and eye shadows - I look like a bit of an alien without mascara!

Kate: Ditto!

Would you rather chop off all your hair or never be able to cut it again?

Char: Never be able to cut it again! – I chopped off all my hair a couple of years ago and it's been such a long and frustrating process growing it back to a length I'm happy with.

Kate: I would chop it all off and then let it grow back. So would you rather have dry straggly ends forever?

Char: Are you saying I have dry straggly ends?!

Kate: Haha

If you had £500, would you spend this on clothes or makeup?

Char: Can't we do 50/50?! No? Ok, if I was forced to chose I would go for clothes. No, makeup. No, clothes. Definitely clothes. That's hard!

Kate: I would say clothes 100%! I wanted you to say make up so I could borrow yours!

Would you rather only use one eyeshadow colour or one lip colour for the rest of your life?

Char: Probably a lip colour, I like a nice bright lip.

Kate: Definitely lip colour. I like to change my lip colours regularly.

Bright nails or nude nails all year round?

Char: Nude! Goes with everything all year!

Kate: hmmmmmm. Probably agree with you Char.

Would you rather never be able to use lipgloss or paint your nails again?

Char: I would rather never be able to use lipgloss. My nails look rubbish without a polish!

Kate: aagghh – I don’t know. My lips looks rubbish without colour! But my nails probably look worse – so I would rather go without lipgloss.

Describe your perfect mascara. Have you found one?

Char: Max Factor False Lash Effect. It makes my lashes nice and long without the clump!

Kate: Same - Char copied me on this one!

Char: I think you bought me one for a Christmas present one year, so you did introduce me! Thanks for that!

What's your ideal coverage foundation?

Char: I like a full coverage because I struggle with blemishes :(

Kate: Medium. I can’t stand having too much on, it makes me feel like rubbing it all off if I have it too heavy.

Favourite high street/drugstore beauty brand?

Char: Probably No.7

Kate: Rimmel

Favourite high end beauty brand?

Char: Clinique (I owe so much to Clinique for helping with my bad skin)

Kate: Clinique. I use the cleanser and clarifying lotion when I have bad break outs. It’s so good!

Is there any makeup you can't leave the house without wearing?

Char: Concealer - I'm so self conscious of my skin I at least have to have a bit of concealer on my blemishes.

Kate: Concealer/highlighter for my dark under eye circles.

What is your most cherished beauty product?

Char: Clinique Clarifying Lotion

Kate: Argon Oil leave in conditioning spray. Looks after my locks. Char and I stocked up on this today!

Char: 99p, Home bargains!

What skin type do you have?

Char: Rubbish. Ha. Normal but prone to breakouts.

Kate: Normal. Charlotte, your skin is beautiful.

Do you always use the same skin routine or do you like switching it up?

Char: As I have to be careful with my skin I usually stick to what I know and trust!

Kate: I am boring with my skin routine, cleanse, tone, moisturise. I’m not loyal to brands although I do love Clinique.

Top 5 Beauty Gurus?

Pixiwoos!
Lo Bosworth (previously of The Hills)
Nicole Guerriero
Liza Prideaux
Charlotte Tilbury

If you could only buy one makeup brand forever which would you buy?

Char: No7 - they have everything I need at reasonable prices!

Kate: Clinique.

Which brand has your favourite packaging?

Char: Benefit or Soap and Glory - love the quirkiness!

Kate: I think there are too many copycats of Benefit and Soap and Glory now, although I do like their packaging. I like Clinique (Clinique obsessed today) as it’s simple. It doesn’t try to be anything other than it is, if that makes any sense whatsoever. I don’t like a show off!!

Which do you apply first, concealer or foundation?

Char: Foundation and top up with concealer if some bits need extra attention!

Kate: Same as Char.

Name a makeup crime you hate.

Char: Getting foundation colour SERIOUSLY wrong.

Kate: Too much of everything - Eugh!

Quick Fire:

Blush or bronzer?

Char: Bronzer
Kate: Blush

Lipgloss or lipstick?

Char: Lipgloss
Kate: Lipstick

Foundation or concealer?

Char: Foundation
Kate: Concealer

Brushes or sponges?

Char: Brushes
Kate: Sponge (Real Techniques)

OPI or Essie?

Char: OPI
Kate: OPI

Lotion or Body Butter?

Char: Lotion
Kate: Lotion

Spring/Summer "Wish-list"

Hi Lovelies…

Well, everybody has left me to go away somewhere lovely while I am left to revise for my final year University exams (*feels sorry for herself). My beautiful sister and her Boyf have gone to Bruges and my mum and dad have gone to Barbados for their 30th Anniversary! Cute!

But it does mean that I am left to be easily distracted from my revision, and so I’ve decided that if I’m going to procrastinate, I may as well spend the time doing something productive, so here I am writing a little ‘Wishlist’ blog.

1)   River Island Sandals
I have had my eye on these for ages. I have a serious soft spot for TAN! Tan and black, tan and white, tan and navy, tan and everything! So I know these gorgeous sandals will get worn again and again. I’m also quite tall (5ft10”) and all of the gorgeous summery sandals can be a little on the high side, so these really are perfect for me.

2)   Miss Guided Navy Jumpsuit.
When I started seeing jumpsuits creeping into stock at the fashion retail store where I work, I thought…oh no. I remembered back to Summer 2010 when they almost crept back in when Rihanna donned the Stella McCartney floral jumpsuit to an event starting a craze for them. Any that I tried on just did not flatter me, but this time round seems to be different. There are so many different styles and they can fit really just about any shape and size, which I love. I have my eye on this navy one so that I can dress it up with a pair of nude heels, or dress it down with a casual pair of sandals (above?!) and a denim jacket.

3)   Next Patchwork Bedding.
So as you have probably guessed, I am just about to finish my University degree. I have been so lucky to secure a job for when I finish, and it also means I get to move home (yay, minimum rent = more goodies!). I haven’t lived at home for almost 4 years and so my bedroom has been slightly neglected. As soon as I saw this bedding I fell in love. I like my bedroom to be sharp and tidy, and these colours are so lovely and fresh and will give my room the titillation it needs!

4)   L’Occitane Cherry Blossom Hand Cream.
I was lucky enough to get a cheeky little travel-sized sample of this L’occitane hand cream. I always imagined L’occitane hand creams to be quite heavy and greasy, so I was very pleasantly surprised at how easily it absorbs and how light it is. Not to mention the smell is so delicate but so yummy I want to lick my own hands (anybody else ever get that urge when something smells so lovely!?). I am just about to run out and so I need to get my hands on a full size tube!

5)   Mollie King Highlights!
I’m proud to admit that I am a serious ‘fangirl’ of Molls…her personality, her style and her HAIR are all just gorgeous. When it’s spring/summer I always like to go a little lighter with my hair, and so when it comes to getting my highlights done, hers is the kind of colour I will go for.

That is just a few of the ‘essentials’ on my wish list, although there are a whole load more things on there which I will share as, when and if I get them!

What lovely ‘essentials’ are on your wish list?

Tesco Treats - yes, I said Tesco!

Hi Lovelies

Today my boyfriend and I needed to 'nip' into Tesco for some essential items and toiletries as we are going to Bruges for a mini break on Monday. Now I am sure you can probably relate to me on this one, 'nip in' and 'Tesco' very rarely appear in the same sentence with me. So we got to Tesco and off Tom went to find his toiletries for the trip and left me to look in the clothing and make up sections! Eak! Our local Tesco has quite an extensive range of make up to offer, including Barry M which I can almost never walk past without purchasing something (most of the time that I don't actually need). An hour and a half later, we left Tesco with all the essentials we needed for our trip such as; toothpaste - boring, shower gel - boring and a few little treats for me - exciting! Which leads me onto my impromptu Tesco haul! Tom probably hates me right now as he is getting the car prepped and I'm writing this, although he thinks I'm packing…shhhhhh.

So here are my lovely little treats. First up is the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. I am pretty late arriving to this party but have read so many good reviews by you bloggers, that I had to buy it! I have just tried it out and so far, I love it. Like many reviews have mentioned before, it easily removes make up whilst leaving my skin feeling fresh and clean. Let's face it girls, non of us enjoy taking our make up off at the end of the day in a sleepy state, so the quicker, the better right?!

Secondly I bought the Collection 2000 Colour Match Foundation in Natural 4. I have used this product before and I like how cheap it is (£6) and the coverage it gives for everyday use. I sometimes mix in a bit of face moisturiser too if I want less coverage. It does leave a 'dewy' finish so avoid if you prefer the matte look.

Next I bought the Collection 2000 Illuminating Touch Brightening Concealer. I have really dark circles under my eyes at all times, no matter how tired I am (it's a family thing) and this is really good at concealing and brightening those horrid grey circles. Again, this is a cheapie at just £5.

Would you believe it? Tesco had a 3 for 2 offer on across all brands - thanks shop assistant lady - I had missed the signs for this so when the assistant told me, I headed straight for Barry M. I picked up the 402 blusher which is a pinky shade. I like this blusher as it doesn't shimmer like a lot of other brands tend to. I think this was meant to be around £5 but of course it was FREE! I like it even more because of this!

My favourite hairspray is VO5 High Volume. I love the smell and I love that you can't tell its in my hair. A lot of brands often leave a sticky residue that you can see on my hair, so I love this - only £3 and it's a BIG bottle!

Next (oh my gosh I have bought so many treats) I bought some lovely little patent peachy/pinky/nudey ballet pumps. These caught my eye and at first I ignored the urge, but then we walked back past them and I had to try them on - must have been a sign - and so I bought them. I thought they would be perfect for Bruges, very European! Please don't rain (*crosses fingers).

A few weeks ago I saw a top in Mango that I loved - a mint green colour cami with thin straps. I didn't buy it though as my sister, Charlotte had just bought a similar lemon colour one from Primark for a third of the price and I couldn't justify spending the money on the exact same top in a different colour for that much! I have been thinking about biting the bullet and getting it and then today in Tesco - TA DA - there it was: a very similar one for £8. Yes please, in my basket! I love it and think it will look perfect with either black rolled up skinnies and a statement necklace (for evening) or over faded skinnies or boyfriend jeans for casual. Perfect for Bruges (please no rain).

Last but not least I bought a little treat for my sister as she is cat sitting for us whilst we are away. CHOKABLOK!! This is amazing stuff and of course it's Easter, so we are allowed to eat as much chocolate as we like, right?

Anyway, that's that! What do you lovely people think of supermarket clothing? Are you a fan or not? I'm not usually overly keen with the selection of clothing supermarkets have but sometimes you just find a little treasure hidden away, so it's always worth a look.

Thanks for reading,

Kate xx
